Learn to drive a stick shift

I think it would be much easier for some one to learn to drive a stick shift after he/she understands the mechanics behind it (although in my real life the sequence was reversed). So maybe my wife would have an easier time learning a stick shift after reading this. Then perhaps she could get some tutorials from here and here.
